During high school my hobby was beekeeping. I continued this profession, going in business with my uncle in Climax, N.C. But two years into it, I was stung by 256 bees, and nearly died. I was told I needed to find a new line of work. I enrolled at the University of Arizona, and I joined the R.O.T.C. to help pay for my college tuition. Of course, I was called up to Vietnam, where I wasted the best years of my life in an unpopular war and came out strung up on drugs. I eventually found myself in Los Angeles, and while waiting tables in a restaurant, I chatted with a writer about my past experiences. The beekeeping story ended up being part of the plot of a pilot episode of a show called "Earl Hammer, Keeper of the Bees" but the show was canceled after only three episodes. It also earned me a bit part in an adult film called "The Stinger" but that's really neither here nor there.

Around this time I met the love of my life, William Cassidy. With Bill's love and care I was able to get the monkey off my back and have been drug free for over 30 years.

In 1993, Bill and I were traveling in South America, and on a whim we purchased a lottery ticket in Ecuador. The gods were looking out for us and we won quite a bit of money! We put the money in an off shore account and continued our travels. It was somewhere in the rainforest of Brazil when Bill and was bit by a venomous snake. We were too far away from medical help and Bill passed in the jungle. I had him cremated there and brought his ashes back home with me in a coconut I hollowed out myself.

I used some of the remaining lottery winnings to invest in the original concept of Post-It notes. I was the person who originally suggested to Art Fry, a longtime friend from my Vietnam tour, that it would be great if you could stick a note to another piece of paper without tape. Fry took the idea and ran with it, and I did well putting that money behind the investment. I've since spent some time on Wall Street at various firms. Who knew I'd go from beekeeper to stock analyst?

I spent the next few years traveling the world and eventually purchased homes in Mexico and the South of France. I live a quiet life now and I miss Bill a lot and I hope to attend the reunion and renew old friendships.

After graduating from Ohio State with a degree in political science in 1967, I moved to Washington for what I thought would be a couple of years. Thirty-three years later, I retired from the federal government, having spent my career working on various domestic programs. During that time, I also completed a Masters Degree in administration at George Washington University.

Since retiring in 2000, I have become active in an organization that works with diplomats from other countries who are posted to Washington. Through this work, I have made wonderful friends from around the world. I’ve had the opportunity to travel in Scandinavia and Italy with Swedish diplomats and am getting to know the languages (it’s really hard when you’re our age) and the cultures of Japan and Turkey through the organization’s programs.

I also enjoy cooking, bridge and traveling.

Following college graduation I worked as a social worker for Jefferson County, quitting prior to the arrival of our first child. I have worked at the Jewish Community Center for 24 years, where I have held various staff positions including director of youth, camp, arts and book, and film festivals.

My husband is an attorney specializing in construction law.

Our daughter Lisa is a theatre critic for the Denver newspaper, Bob is a local attorney, and Michelle is a clinical psychologist in New York City. We have 2 grandsons who live in Louisville! My leisure time is spent reading, attending theatre, films and traveling. We recently returned from a trip to Argentina, Chili and Patagonia. On weekends we love boating with family and friends at our Barren River Lake home in Glasgow, KY.

Hard to believe it’s been 45 years. I’ve been happily married for 41 years to Edward Goldman (professor). We have two wonderful children: Ari, working in editing and publishing in New York City, and Dalia, a financial journalist who lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Andrew.

Dalia went farther in journalism than I. My undergraduate work was in French Literature (merci, Mlle. Arnold). I completed doctoral work in counseling and child psychology and practiced for 35 years, retiring two years ago.

Now I serve as a presiding judge for the Hamilton County (Ohio) Board of Elections, do volunteer work, spend more time trying to be a better friend and a better daughter, and attempt to satisfy intense wanderlust to travel the world, which we manage to do six or seven times a year, just as Peachy Schulman predicted. I am grateful for life’s blessings and continue to look forward to the future.

I graduated from U of L in 1967 with a B.A. in Sociology and Education. Later, in 1975, in Hollywood, CA, I earned a certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from HMO, Inc. I earned a M.Ed. in Special Education from U of L in 1967; I took classes at the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus in 1968 and California State University-Long Beach in 1977. I earned a M.A. (1981) and a Ph.D. (1985) in psychology from International College/Union Graduate School.

After the death of my husband, I closed my counseling practice and returned to teaching. In 2003, I was awarded a Summer Fellowship in Journalism Education by the American Society of Newspaper Editors to Ball State.

I have worked as a Special Education Teacher, Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, Journalism Teacher, and ghostwriter. For a year or so, I had a weekly newspaper column in Edgewood, New Mexico.

Currently, I start in school all over again next month. I’ll be taking the art classes I feel I need to support my attempts at illustrating the children’s books I have been writing.

I made a lot of money, lost a lot of money, made more money, participated in interesting and boring activities, and made great as well as terrible decisions.

I lived in St. Louis, Mo., Los Angeles, the East Mountains and Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Auburntown, TN.

My relationships have been rich: Incredible mentors, good friends, 2 loving husbands [and one bad marriage], interesting clients, patients and students, delightful children and grandchildren. This has led to an incredibly rich and satisfying life. I write, design websites, brochures and flyers for family and friends. Many of my writings can be found on the WWW under my previous married name: Laura Russell, Ph.D.

In 2003, it was a privilege to renew my friendship with Barbara

Strauss. We experienced cancer at the same time, she with lung cancer and me with lymphoma. We spent hours on the telephone like we did when we were 14. She was an intelligent, witty, creative, giving, loving and delightful friend. She is greatly missed.

I went to U of K after high school. I dropped out after 1 ½ years and, yes, got married. After seven years and 2 children, I got divorced.

I went to U of L Dental Hygiene School and remarried in 1973. Donnie and I have been married for 35 years in December. We have one daughter who lives in Louisville. Our children are all married and we have 7 grandsons.

I was a hygienist for 31 years and am now retired. We live in Prospect and I play a lot of tennis, a little golf and see my grandchildren as much as I am able.

After 30 years Pat sold his sporting goods business and is semi-retired. He kept his small embroidery company which we now run together. He works part time and is involved in other business ventures. I work part time (usually only 3 days a week).

We enjoy traveling a lot and have been to some really nice places – Pat plays golf and I play tennis.

My daughter (Tyler) and I work out together at least once a week. My other interests are gardening (no yard just flowers and herbs) and walking. Life is good and we are all healthy—for that I am thankful.

I graduated from the University of Kentucky (BS and JD). I married Mary Sackfield (Sacred Heart) in 1967. I began my law practice in Louisville in 1970. I also served as CEO of several healthcare companies. We have two children and no grandchildren as yet.

We moved to the DC area in 1995 where I joined a law firm headed by Marc Fleischaker (how about that!). I retired from active law practice in 2005. Since then I wrote a book and travel the country speaking and consulting. I am also involved in two web start-up web-based businesses and am active in several not-for-profit organizations. Life is good!

After graduating law school, I joined a law firm and eventually became an Assistant County Attorney in Louisville. In 1978, I served as General Counsel for the Kentucky Department for Human Resources. I am now a member of the law firm of O'Koon Hintermeister, PLLC with offices in Louisville and Indianapolis.

My wife, Janet and I live near where I lived when I attended Seneca. Janet's daughter Stephanie, attended Atherton High School and Indiana University and is studying to be an occupational therapist. Janet is from Lexington and we met in Glasgow, KY. Two years ago Janet opened Walnut Creek Rustic Living, a store selling rustic furniture and accessories for lake homes, cabins and rustic city dwellings.

We play golf and tennis but our passion now is fly fishing for trout. We have a cabin on Barren River Lake near Bowling Green, KY. and spend what spare time we have on the lake or in the Cumberland River search-ing for the elusive rainbow.

I have so many fond memories of my time at Seneca, it is very difficult to pick just one. I am glad we are getting together again. Helping to plan the event brings back a flood of memories.

After graduation, I attended Miami University, was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and graduated from UK with an English and teaching degree in 1967. I met my husband, Gibbs, while at UK. Gibbs and I married in August of ' 67 and have lived and raised our family in Louisville, except for 3 years in Atlanta, GA. Gibbs is a registered architect and owns his own firm, Reese Design Collaborative. We have two married daughters—Stephanie McCrery (Bryan), an interior designer/Louisville, and Nicole Libby (Shon), a speech therapist in West Chester, Ohio. We have been blessed with four amazing grandchildren—two girls and two boys, ages 4-7. I retired from teaching high school English in both Jefferson and Oldham County Schools in June 2007. I am now learning to play golf, remodeling my home, exercising, traveling, reading and sharing a piece of each day with family and friends.
